In Canada, we are proud to have an I&D centre of excellence (COE); an inclusion council with representatives from each business units/ function; and 10 partner networks, that act as our employee resource-groups. In partnership, we serve a diverse team of retail partners, who operate in our stores; a diverse team of support partners, who work in our regional offices; as well as our diverse customers and communities. We also contribute to Global I&D initiatives, in collaboration with the rest of the team in the United States. This job contributes to Starbucks success by shaping and leading the implementation of inclusion and diversity programs and initiatives that are aligned with the current Canada I&D strategy, our vision and mission. The scope of this role is to contribute to the fostering of our brand and culture of belonging in Canada, with a global focus, at all levels of the organization. Ultimately, making Starbucks an even more inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible place to work.

This role will be working out of the Toronto or Vancouver Regional Office and will require the successful candidate to work out of the regional office 3 days per week.

As a sr inclusion & diversity specialist you will:

• Be part of the Canada I&D COE team, acting as one of our experts and champion of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility in the workplace.

• Support Canada I&D sub-strategies to enhance accessibility, reconciliation, bilingualism, gender parity, etc. and to prevent racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, etc.

• Support partner networks (ERGs), introducing best practices, coordinating passionate champions and advocates, and ensuring support to their initiatives.

• Coordinate the planning, creation and implementation of programs during our diversity observances, inclusion months and community campaigns.

• Track progress of annual operational plans, programs and activities; analyzing outcomes and impact against performance indicators.

• Develop reports on plans, programs and activities effectiveness and make recommendations for program enhancement and improvement.

• Assess the suitability of the content and strategy of our I&D learning and development initiatives, in collaboration with the Canada L&D COE.

• Consult on diverse hiring practices, using self-declaration data analysis and recommending appropriate changes based on evidence.

• Collaborate with our HR data analysts to elaborate appropriate diversity data reports based on best practices in Canada.

• Monitor and analyze diversity data against third-party standards in Canada to ensure a fair representation of employment equity groups.

• Ensure diversity data management integrity and data privacy standards across the business.

• Research workplace inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility legal framework and best practices in Canada, assess against the equivalent in the US and globally, and benchmark Starbucks’ current state against leading companies.

We’d love to hear from people with:

· 3 years of full-time work experience in retail or corporate environments, ideally in large and medium scale corporation within the food and beverages industry.

• Demonstrated experience managing teams or participating in I&D volunteering groups in the workplace, such as employee resource-groups, inclusion councils, business networks, etc.

• Demonstrated experience managing or participating in I&D programs, such as diverse hiring, supply diversity, inclusive leadership, etc.

• Proven acumen as an advocate in the I&D space; with natural talent to advise on various diversity-related aspects.

• Demonstrated success in collaborating with I&D stakeholders and cross-functional teams in very agile work environments, with Global or international scope.

• Consultation, partnering and influencing/consultation skills, with sound judgment, high integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

• Ability to collect, analyze and report on diversity data in the workplace.

• Ability to scope, develop and deliver learning and development programs.

• Ability to handle difficult situations sensitively and appropriately.

• Ability to speak English and French bilingual (or more!) as an asset.

• Ability to work in Global hybrid highly matrixed working environments.

• Strong office software skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Miro, etc.

• Strong business, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong team player with a high sense of urgency and motivation to see the team succeed.
