Merck Associate Director, US Oncology SCRUM Master in North Wales, Pennsylvania

Job Description

The company’s US Human Health Division has undergone significant transformation over the past few years, by building and enhancing our core commercial capabilities to be more adaptive and responsive to changing market needs and customers’ expectations. As a result, US Oncology has begun to develop, manage and incorporate Agile methodologies in the way we work. To help achieve this vision, US Oncology developed Agile Digital Teams to innovate new ways of communicating, measuring, and interacting with our customers and patients through digital channels and technologies. A core member of those teams is the Scrum Master.

The Scrum Master is responsible for supporting the Agile Digital Team(s) in their effort to develop and execute digital/ omnichannel strategies across our portfolio of brands to drive greater customer experience, innovation, and business value. In addition, the Scrum Master will develop a strategy to realize the cultural changes needed to embed Agile principles and practices in the way we work.

This role has a Hybrid working arrangement, with 3 days per week in the Upper Gwynedd office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports the launch and training of the Agile Team

  • Guides the team on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to improve the quality, speed, and compliance of digital promotion

  • Coaches the team to higher levels of Agile maturity over time

  • Facilitates SCRUM events and maintains KANBAN boards to enable transparency about the work and adjustments that are required

  • Facilitates discussion to enable rapid and thoughtful decision making

  • Guides the team on how to optimize self-organization

  • Removes impediments to work progress via servant leadership, coaching or influencing actions of SMEs and leadership

  • Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on progress and problem-solving

  • Models and coaches diplomacy and emotional intelligence to enable conflict resolution and a self-directed team mindset

  • Supports Trimester Business Planning (TBR) Process – brings value to marketing stakeholders by coaching them in development ofObjective & Key Results (OKRs), and the subsequentplanning, prioritization and execution of work (Big Room Planning)

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5 years marketing or marketing communications experience

  • Strong executive presence and communication skills with ability to speak with candor when appropriate

  • Highly skilled in influencing without authority and leading cross-functional teams

  • High EQ and ability to create psychological safety within teams

  • Ability to effectively facilitate both small and large group sessions

  • Possesses a growth mindset and embraces the practice of transparency and continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to act quickly to resolve problems or conflicts

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with the promotion operations processes including content creation, approval, digital publishing, and content management

  • Scrum certified and/or experience in a Scrum Master role (i.e., understanding of scrum principles, practices, and theory)

  • Strong understanding of change management

  • Experience leading a large field or HQ change initiative

  • Project Management experience and/or certifications

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end marketing process

  • Strong understanding of the evolving US healthcare landscape and interdependencies

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
