Armstrong Pumps / Fluid Technology Manufacturing Engineer in North Tonawanda, New York

North Tonawanda. Armstrong Fluid technology. $85,000 - $95,000/year.

The position provides primary Manufacturing Engineering technical support and knowledge in optimization of the operations organization. The positions basic duty is to improve the production efficiency and also save costs through the elimination of waste within the production environment. Focus areas of optimization include process validation of product designs and continuous improvement efforts focusing on process methodologies, material savings and machining process measurements and improvements. This position works in coordination and direction from the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to support the North Tonawanda Plant Customer Fulfillment initiatives. This position supports the North Tonawanda plants functional areas of the Project Engineering Group, OEM, Boosters, Hydronics & Fire. The position requires effective communication with both HVAC and the Project Engineering Group in the event of required changes due to manufacturing challenges.

In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:

MAIN JOB ACCOUNTABILITY * Optimize production processes and implement technical improvements to enhance efficiency * Identify and integrate new technologies and automation to improve production output and quality * Develop and implement sustainable manufacturing practices within the organization to help minimize environmental impacts such as energy usage and waste generation. * Analyze workflows and layouts to identify bottlenecks and devise strategies for continuous improvement * Provide corrective actions and process controls to assure conformance to specifications to improve First time Quality and throughput * Deliver complete projects to shop floor and support hand off to operations team * Support Circulator Value Stream for manufacturing engineering

2ND MAIN JOB ACCOUNTABILITY * Support the development of new products and processes * Measure and improve process cycle times * Work with the plant manufacturing to create and monitor labor routings, process control plans and testing plans for current and new processes * Participate in Kaizen activities and process improvement initiatives * Coordinate changes to labor routings, process control plans, and testing plans to improve operational productivity and quality * Participate in scheduled Corrective Action (CAR) meetings & PPAP development while assisting the Quality Department with initiatives for continuous improvement

Role Requirements * Engineering degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical * 5 7 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience working in a manufacturing environment and involvement with Engineering, Manufacturing and distribution operations. * Strong technical background specializing in welding, machining or large assembly processes * Regular shop floor presence will be expected * Ability to design fixtures and tooling as well as draft and create drawings in SolidWorks * Experience working with an ERP system (Infor/SAP) * Self-directed with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and a focus on results. * Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Six sigma principles, general safety practices and OSHA regulations, Safety policies and safe manufacturing procedures * Creative problem-solving skills, conflict management within different organizations (centralized and matrix organizational structures)
