Innophos is seeking a Wastewater Technician at our North Salt Lake, UT facility. This position is responsible for day-to-day operation of the wastewater facility, tending to pumps and other equipment used to decontaminate wastewater. The Wastewater Technician is responsible for collecting samples; reading charts and flow meters and gauges to determine equipment malfunctions and performing minor repairs on equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Operation of plant wastewater system to achieve compliance with plant wastewater discharge permit conditions
Sampling of wastewater influent and effluent to monitor conditions of system
Routine cleaning maintenance of system including cleaning strainers, backwashing multimedia filters, and pressing sludge
Monitoring conditions of wastewater system and recording results
Balancing tank inflow and flow rate to prevent exceeding capacity of water storage tanks
Proactively mitigate accidents and eliminate unsafe conditions and report near-miss incidents
Coordinates maintenance activity on system to include pumps, mixers, tanks and hoses
Maintain area and equipment in an acceptable and safe condition
Will routinely use forklifts to load and unload material and equipment
Cares for equipment and takes corrective action on malfunctioning equipment
Assists maintenance employees in trouble shooting and repair of equipment
Maintains adequate supplies
Performs other duties as assigned
Shift & Wages:
Day Shift – 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday – Friday
Some weekend and overtime required
Wages start at $21.64 - $24.04/hr. based on experience and qualifications
Payday is every other week on Fridays

Beginning the first of the month following permanent hire, the following benefits are available:

RequiredEducation and Experience
High School diploma or GED
Experience in manufacturing, production or manual labor preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must obtain certification to operate lift truck; current forklift certification a plus
Water treatment and wastewater process knowledge preferred
Ability to operate equipment to clarify water and to process or dispose of plant effluent
Capability in performing basic mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
Basic computer skills including MS Excel and Outlook
Ability to accurately record data, operate computer equipment, fill out required forms and documents, etc.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment
Punctual, reliable and solid work ethic
Environmental and/or PhysicalRequirements
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job which may include repetitive motions including but not limited to standing for prolonged periods of time, kneeling, twisting, bending, lifting, squatting and climbing ladders
Able to wear a respirator (must be clean shaven) and other required personal protective equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (seldom), squatting, and operating mobile equipment (forklift, sweeper, scrubber)
