The Amazon Robotics UX team drives the user experience for our portfolio of robotics platforms and operations management tools as we strive to create a safer, more productive, and higher performing work environment. The experience design directly impacts front line associates who interact with our robotic and automation systems, operations managers who balance work across these complex facilities, maintenance personnel who keep the robots running, and others.
We’re looking to add a Senior UX Researcher to our team. In this role, you will work with internal stakeholders and the UX team to measure and track the performance of our physical and digital tools that empower our fulfillment network associates, mechanics, and managers to run and optimize our buildings. You will own multiple projects simultaneously, evaluating and guiding technologies from concept through implementation. You will be a primary point of contact on projects and directly interface with our robotics hardware, software, product, systems, and engineering teams.
Key job responsibilities
Proactively forge solid partnerships both with end users and stakeholders- such as engineering, business leadership, and operations
Define, implement, and improve scalable research mechanisms that can function without direct supervision
Curate research methods & mechanisms should be flexible & adaptable; practical enough for all stages of product maturity & the design lifecycle
Propose guidelines for sensible approaches to all research questions & be able to advocate their reasoning behind them
Ruthlessly prioritize design recommendations and changes to maximize impact on product performance and business KPIs
Implement contracts and mechanisms with external partners to ensure quality and design intent are maintained as we scale with external vendors
Drive the research strategy of multiple mid-to-large-sized programs through collaboration with technical and contracted partners
Create and proactively pitch north star UX visions and influence product strategy, collecting and presenting qualitative and quantitative data to support design recommendations with strong rationale
Champion user-centered design culture and best practices in the UX team and for cross-functional teams.
A day in the life
A Senior UX Researcher at Amazon Robotics will lead evaluative research projects that cover our physical and digital product portfolios through all stages of product development. You will think like an owner, collaborating with UX Designers, Product Managers, Program Managers, and Engineers to understand the performance and quality of their product experiences and plan for sustained instrumentation, evaluation, and improvement. You will generate and recommend the adoption of research mechanisms that enable continuous measurement of our product portfolio that help our partners and stakeholders make high-impact feature decisions that are best for our users. You will contribute your findings to the development of guidelines for physical and digital design best practices. You will work with cross-organizational partnerships to measure, understand, and propose strategies to improve the experience of operations teams with our products as our fulfillment network becomes increasingly automated.

Basic Qualifications
6+ years of experience in UX/User Research
Experience with qualitative, quantitative, attitudinal and behavioral methods.
Experience designing and running original experimental research on digital and physical products and services.
Understanding of the design process and how research is appropriately integrated at each phase.
Ability to independently drive multiple concurrent projects in an agile environment.
Experience researching and developing experiences for global markets.
MA/MS in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading small to medium teams as a design or project lead
PhD in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or a related field a plus.
Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills; ability to distill complex ideas into concise and accurate narratives that enlighten and inspire.
Experience working with Industrial Designers on tangible workflows.
Skill in use of data analysis, data visualization, and knowledge management tools a plus (e.g., Tableau).
Skill in developing rapid UI prototypes and data collections tools a plus.
Strategic, business-building approach to UX research with a passion for translating data into bottom-line impact.
Passion for understanding the latest learnings and innovations in behavioral science, research methods, and UX design and applying these to your work.
Facility for uncovering root causes of good or bad research results for a given UI design; able to deconstruct product interfaces from a system-wide view into meaningful and useful component parts, and demonstrate the significance of each part’s relationship to the other parts, and to the system as a whole.
Solid grasp of quantitative data analysis and inferential statistics.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
