Amazon Machine Learning Engineer, Robotic Storage Technologies - Simulation & Machine Learning in North Reading, Massachusetts

Robotic Storage Technologies (RST) is growing a team with Machine Learning (ML) expertise as we transform Amazon's warehousing solutions through the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The team owns robotic storage solutions driven by thousands of mobile drive units. We are seeking enthusiastic Software Development Engineers who are passionate about exploring the use of ML-based allocation services to accelerate the rate at which customer orders can be fulfilled through always-optimal performance in dynamic production environments.

The ideal candidate has experience developing and supporting production cloud-based applications. They either bring expertise or passion to learn the tools and best practices that streamline the process of taking machine learning models from development to production and beyond. They are enthusiastic learnings who thrive working in a diverse team environment. Key job responsibilities

Specific areas of focus include (but are not limited too):

  • Work closely with scientists to design, develop, deploy, monitor, and continually improve ML-backed services.

  • Help the team explore bold new ideas through development of custom simulations.

  • Adapt patterns creating standardization and reuse across new an existing services.

  • Leverage the latest and greatest in AWS Infrastructure As Code (IAC) to speed time to first deployment for new applications.

  • Collaborate with engineers from partner teams to solve challenging problems.

  • Communicate effectively with your manager, with local and remote teams, verbally and in writing.

About the team

This is a growing team of software development engineers and scientists building expertise in simulation and machine learning. The team researches, develops, and maintains machine learning models that drive optimal allocation decisions in production automated storage and retrieval solutions within Amazon warehouses. We are developing best-in-class MLOps capabilities with scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Machine Learning experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Master's degree or equivalent

  • Experience developing and maintaining Machine Learning infrastructure such as feature store, model store, training & deployment pipelines, and monitoring.
