Space Dynamics Laboratory Security Specialist in North Logan, Utah

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Security Specialist to provide multi-disciplinary security support to various customers, internal program staff, systems, and spaces. The candidate will work intimately with the Facility Security Officer and peers in the maintenance and advancement of security protocols, training, and program space development. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience working within classified environments and with classified programs in accordance with 32 CFR 117 (NISPOM), DoDM 5200.01, security classification guides, and DD Form 254.

    Responsibilities:

    The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administers and coordinates all applicable security activities in strict accordance with corporate policies and federal security regulations, directives, and manuals governing the safeguarding of National Security Information

  • Cultivates and sustains collaborative relationships with U.S. Government (USG) agencies, external customers, contractors, employees, and managers

  • Coordinates with USG entities to obtain official rulings, interpretations, and approved deviations ensuring comprehensive compliance with relevant regulations

  • Interfaces with customers to prepare security clearance requests, processes internal and external visit requests, and performs other duties as assigned to support operational needs

  • Works closely with assigned program teams to support achievement of mission objectives and programmatic goals through security advisory and compliance efforts

  • Drafts, publishes, and implements security plans, operating procedures, CONOPS, transportation plans, and program briefings

  • Conducts and maintains inventory of classified media and system equipment

  • Oversees destruction of assigned classified media and equipment

  • Conducts comprehensive security audits and inspection to assess compliance with government regulations; provides detailed reports of findings and recommend corrective actions to the Security leadership team

  • Conducts regular self-inspections, identify deficiencies, tracks open issues, and resolves problems

  • Inspects and manages access control and intrusion detection systems for assigned spaces

    Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship, with an active secret security clearance

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience directly related to Industrial Security; bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience with USG classification marking and safeguarding requirements

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Ability to effectively communicate information to various audiences and all levels of the organization verbally and through written communications

  • Proficiency with standard office software, including: Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and related programs

  • Ability to be self-motivating in taking ownership of assigned duties and work independently with minimal supervision

  • Flexibility to travel and work extended hours, as required

    Preferred:

  • Experience with CCTV, intrusion detection, and access control systems

  • Experience with NCAISS/NISS, DISS/NBIS, or other USG-mandated systems
