    Minimum Requirements:

    There are no education or experience qualifications for this position.

    Desired Qualifications:

    Candidates must be willing to participate in ongoing training related to Autism and/or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training;

    Must be flexible, patient and physically/emotionally able to handle rigorous individualized programs and challenging behaviors;

    Must follow direction and collaborate effectively with school staff;

    Must demonstrate interpersonal skills, professionalism and confidentiality;

    Daily attendance is expected.

    Position Summary/Responsibilities:

    Implements individualized instruction as designed by child’s consultant and team;

    Assists and models intervention techniques when necessary;

    Implements a Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP);

    Assists in transitioning students from class to class and/or in navigating the school;

    Accompanies student at arrival and dismissal and throughout the day to ensure the student’s safety during all daily activities;

    Collects and reports student performance data to relevant team members as needed;

    Assists student in their daily activities and organizational needs;

    Attends to physical needs of students such as toileting, grooming, feeding, and/or lifting;

    Supervises and supports the student across all educational settings (classroom, cafeteria, special area classes, etc.);

    Assists the teacher in reinforcing appropriate social interactions/behaviors;

    Prepares instructional resources/materials based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs);

    Attends team meetings as determined by the educational team;

    Participates in all classroom training and professional learning as recommended by the building team or Pupil Personnel Services Department (including annual recertification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention), as well as relevant sessions offered by educational agencies;

    Other duties as assigned and as they relate to the specific student’s needs.
