Cecil College Production Assistant in North East, Maryland

General Duties: The Production Assistant assists and supports all production and artistic operation functions. The Production Assistants are based in the theatre and the workshop, assisting with stock management, building, equipment maintenance and production logistics. Due to the need of interaction with students, employees, and the college community this position requires in person presence. The Production Assistant reports to the Director. Candidates must generally be available for shifts from 10am-6 pm. This position may include nights and weekends. This position is for 25 hours a week. Responsibilities: * Constructs scenery including the understanding of basic carpentry and shop tools * Ability to lift and move 30 pounds (unassisted), and 50 pounds (assisted) * Works with basic hand tools, power tools, and adhesives * Assists in organization of Workshop, Green Room, Costume Shop, and Storage Facility * Works with Scenic Manager, Audio & Lighting Tech, and The Stage & Rigging Foreperson to learn other aspects of theatre including but not limited to: fly rail, lighting, sound, projections, props, costuming, etc. * Works as crew on Milburn Stone Theatre productions and community partner productions as assigned * Assists in inventory of supplies * Maintains a safe, healthy, and clean work environment * Performs other duties as assigned Requirements: * Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent * Proficiencies / Experience: * Hand and Power Tools * Painting * Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and move up to a maximum of 50 pounds assisted and 30 pounds unassisted. The physical activity of this position includes, but is not limited to: climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting and sitting. * Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
