Conway Scenic Railroad Guest Services Associate in North Conway, New Hampshire

General Description The Guest Services Associate is an ambassador for the railroad, responsible for assisting Conway Scenic Railroad passengers and visitors throughout their visit. Their objective is to do whatever they reasonably can to provide a positive experience to guests and prospective guests.

Specific Responsibilities Each day, the Guest Services Manager will assign Associates specific duties according to the needs of the day. These duties will vary from day to day, and may include any of the following on any given day:

  • Assist Building and Grounds and Train Service personnel inspecting and cleaning cars and station facilities.
  • Help culinary personnel restock food, beverages and supplies for the day's trains.
  • Greet guests upon arrival at the Station, offering directions and assistance as needed.
  • Assist with pre-boarding crowd control.
  • Aid in boarding and unloading guests, paying particular attention to guests potentially in need of assistance.
  • Circulate among guests on board trains to ensure that they are comfortable and adhering to train safety rules.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to guests on board trains.
  • Serve as host to cruise ship guests traveling from Portland to North Conway.
  • Assists as host at special events.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management and, on board trains, the Conductor

Position Requirements

  • Friendly, outgoing personality and willingness to engage guests in friendly conversation.
  • Good balance and the ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time.
  • Good situational awareness.
  • Fluency in English required; other languages (e.g. Spanish, French) a plus

Experience Required

  • Customer service and/or food service experience preferred.

Reporting Relationships

  • The Guest Services Associate reports to and takes instruction from the Guest Services Manager.
  • The Associate also takes direction from the Manager on Duty regarding matters on and about the station and the Conductor on board the train.
