Job Description

As the Delivery Operations – Program Director in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you’ll have opportunities to create and implement a vision for transforming the delivery of technology used to find and develop life-changing therapeutics of a leading biopharma company.
This leader will provide vision and direction for a technology delivery function that provides technology primarily used to discover and develop new therapeutics (AbbVie’s R&D division). This function provides the main application development capability and managed application support for these technologies. This function also manages development methodologies used for application development and management. This leader will also be responsible for managing and optimizing financial, personnel and organizational elements for this function.
Responsibilities
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations, etc.).
Recruits, coaches and develops organizational talent. Provides general direction to managers, exempt specialists and non-exempt support in various areas, groups and/or operations.

Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action. Demonstrates effective change leadership.
Develops and articulates a strategic vision for areas of responsibility. Leads assigned departments by developing, communicating, and building consensus for goals and programs that support division, business unit and company objectives.
Builds strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives. Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, outside regulatory agencies, customers, vendors and/or suppliers.
Coordinates across functional areas, business units, and/or geographies in order to achieve company or area goals.
Utilizes technical/professional knowledge and skills to establish, interpret and execute company policies in a major segment of the company.
Makes and executes operational decisions with a strategic perspective. Typically makes decisions that translate programs established by top management into operational plans and schedules; work is performed without appreciable direction.
Directs and controls the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups and/or operations. Creates mid- to long-range plans to carry out objectives established by top management; develops and calculates a budget for one or more departments to meet organizational goals; forecasts future departmental or group needs including human and material resources and capital expenditures.
Provides vision, strategy, targets and a managed service function for the maintenance of technology used by R&D.
Provides vision, strategy, execution and the core delivery service function for the creation and improvement of custom developed applications used by R&D.
Provides cost management, usage optimization and process framework leadership for the methodologies used in application creation and development including UI frameworks, cloud technology usage, and software development methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Monitors progress of departments or units toward divisional and company goals.
Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
Develops and/or identifies new work processes that will have broad applicability throughout the company investigates and solves problems that impact work processes and personnel in multiple units or departments.
Contributes ideas for improving work processes and achieving organizational goals.
Develops and communicates a vision for a major segment of the organization.
Monitors all costs associated with assigned organizational unit; monitors company-wide indicators such as market share and profitability; monitors industry trends and external environment in areas relevant to the assigned organizational unit.
Demonstrated ability to manage technology output for application development through knowledge and application of Agile, DevOps or comparable frameworks
Demonstrated ability to manage technology maintenance through knowledge and application of ITIL or comparable frameworks
Knowledge of wet lab instrumentation, computing and data management a bonus
Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks which apply to technology produced and managed by IT organizations
Knowledge of key technologies used by R&D applications including Salesforce, AWS, Azure, Jira, Confluence.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.

Salary: $172,000 - $326,500
