Generac Power Systems Staff Firmware Engineering Program Manager in North Billerica, Massachusetts

We are seeking a Staff Firmware Engineering Program Manager to join our dynamic team and lead the development of cutting-edge firmware solutions.

As the Staff Firmware Engineering Program Manager, you will oversee and coordinate the development of firmware projects across various cross-functional teams. This role requires strong technical program management skills, a proven track record in delivering complex programs, and the ability to drive results in a large, matrixed organization. Successful candidate must have hands on experience with Firmware development to actively participate in Code reviews and work closely with the team on setting and meeting timelines

Located in our new N. Billerica office, you will report into the Director, Engineering Program Management.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams: Lead and manage the development of firmware by collaborating with engineering, product management, and manufacturing teams.

Project Planning and Tracking: Develop detailed project plans, track progress against milestones, and provide regular status updates to management and stakeholders.

Risk Management: Identify technical risks associated with firmware development and create effective mitigation plans.

Alignment with Product Requirements: Work closely with product management to ensure firmware development aligns with product requirements and goals.

Quality and Compliance: Ensure that firmware development and delivery meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Manufacturing Integration: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure successful firmware installation and integration into final products.

Firmware Strategy: Contribute to the development of the firmware strategy and roadmap to support long-term organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: At least 7+ years of experience managing firmware development projects as a Program Manager

Technical Background: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in firmware development.

Skills: Strong technical program management skills with the ability to deliver complex programs.

Experience working in a large, matrixed organization.

Tools: Proficiency in JIRA, Agile/Scrum or similar project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of system management firmware and associated development frameworks

Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze technical problems and develop innovative solutions.

Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Experience with Power Electronics is a huge plus

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
