County of Montgomery Logistics Program Specialist in Norristown, Pennsylvania

SUMMARY

The Department of Public Safety and the Department of Health and Human Services, Montgomery County Office of Public Health (OPH) is seeking a Logistics Program Specialist to be assist with the day to day logistics between DPS and OPH field response. Deployable assets, personal protection equipment (PPE), testing supplies and equipment need to be managed, inventoried, maintained, and distributed in an efficient manner. As operations expand, this position will be responsible for assisting with the logistics and supply chain management for the Department Public Safety and other emergency assets in Montgomery County.  In addition, this position will maintain all assets reserved for use during response to infectious diseases including COVID-19.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with other staff members to ensure that resource management and logistics procedures are accurately identified in all emergency plans;
  • Ensure that inventory and maintenance best practices are employed for all assets within their purview to include regular systems checks and audits;
  • Assist with the scheduling, delivery, setup, and maintenance of emergency assets and materials;
  • Utilization of asset tracking and inventory system.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree from an accredited university in an applicable field such as emergency management, public safety, supply chain management preferred;
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800;
  • Understanding of local, county, and state emergency management in Pennsylvania;
  • Familiarity with local emergency services, incident command, multi-agency coordination, joint information systems;
  • Experience with supply chain, logistics operations, or warehouse organization;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience planning and executing large events or mobilizing resources;
  • Strong organization and leadership skills;
  • PA Driver's License and reliable means of transportation consistently available;
  • Experience with commercial vehicle operations preferred;
  • Forklift operator's certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in emergency management, public safety, logistics/supply chain management, or related field, or related field;
  • Ability to think independently and carry out tasks as assigned;
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and develop partnerships;
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.

Note: All MCDPS positions require on call responsibilities and may require you to operate for long hours in high stress situations staffing the Emergency Operations Center, or in the field, during emergencies and unusual events.
