DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role entails a thorough examination of moderately complex applications related to Public Water Systems within the Southeast Region, ensuring that all systems are meticulously planned, designed, constructed, and operated in compliance with the Safe Drinking Water regulations and standards.
The position operates under the close guidance of a licensed professional engineer within the Safe Drinking Water Program, ensuring adherence to established protocols and best practices.
Responsibilities include the review of Public Water System (PWS) Construction Permit, Operations Permit, and Permit Transfer applications, all of which must be submitted in accordance with Chapter 109 of the Pennsylvania Safe Drinking Water Act.
The incumbent will also engage in Pennvest Planning Consultations and conduct Prefeasibility Assessments to explore and evaluate alternative solutions, assess potential funding sources, and provide guidance to prospective Pennvest applicants regarding the necessary procedures and documentation for completing their application.
Additionally, participation in pre-operation inspections of newly constructed facilities is required, serving as a critical step before the issuance of a PWS operation permit.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,678 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Successful completion of the training program for Environmental Engineering Trainee; or One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering. Graduate study in environmental engineering or in a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Conditions of Employment: This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
