Amentum Submarine Acoustics Technician in Norfolk, Virginia

Looking for a position to continue supporting the world’s finest submarine fleet? Amentum is seeking a Submarine Acoustics/AN/BQQ-10 Technician to provide technical support in the troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade onboard naval submarines. The position will be located at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), Norfolk, VA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical evaluation and perform the required corrective actions for Submarine Acoustic systems casualties in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and all other applicable Navy Maintenance Procedures

  • Draft Technical Assistance Visit reports upon completion of corrective actions

  • Assist in the disassembly, reassembly, installation and testing of the BQQ-10 systems onboard all classes of submarines

  • Provide support to engineering and design staff in a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications

  • Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed

  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures

  • Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout and contract requirements

  • Serve as senior/lead technician and assist in the training of other technicians

  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least ten (10) years of job-related experience or equivalent

  • General Experience: Ten (10) years of full-time technical experience in the design, installation, test, or repair of electronics systems and equipment.

  • Specialized Experience: Six (6) years of full-time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of SWFTS systems and/or weapons handling equipment.

  • Experience in evaluating the material condition of ship systems and implementing corrective action.

  • Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC)
