Robert Half Staff Accountant in Norfolk, Virginia
Description We are in the process of recruiting a Staff Accountant for our team in the government sector, based in Norfolk, Virginia. This role provides an exciting contract to hire employment opportunity and is primarily centered around managing general ledger, running financial reports, and handling month-end close and accruals.
Responsibilities:
• Conducting financial reports in a timely and accurate manner
• Managing the general ledger and ensuring all entries are correct and updated
• Performing account reconciliation on a regular basis
• Handling tasks related to month-end close and accruals
• Utilizing Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis
• Ensuring compliance with government accounting standards and regulations
• Assisting in the improvement of internal processes to optimize efficiency
• Collaborating with other team members to achieve departmental goals
• Maintaining a high level of confidentiality with all sensitive financial information. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the role of Staff Accountant or similar function.
• Proficient in General Ledger management and maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience in Financial Reporting.
• Proven skills in Account Reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
• Knowledge and understanding of government procedures and regulations is desirable.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a team and collaborate with other departments.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Certification such as CPA is a plus.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
