Robert Half Sr. Paralegal in Norfolk, Virginia

Description

My client is hiring an experienced Litigation Paralegal who is skilled in complex civil litigation in state and federal courts. This paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys specializing in design defects, construction defects, delay claims, performance and payment bond claims, mechanic liens, indemnity claims, maritime and admiralty matters, including defense, coverage determinations and disputes, bad faith defense, excess liability and subrogation, toxic tort matters, etc.

Other responsibilities include:

• Utilizing skills in e-Filing, Court Filings, and PACER for efficient management of legal documents.

• Preparing and drafting pleadings for various legal matters.

• Checking the validity of legal citations using tools like Shepardizing.

• Assisting in trial preparation and handling depositions and mediation.

• Handling change orders and indemnity claims.

• Using Blue Book for legal citation and reference.

• Assisting in the resolution of issues related to construction and design defects, and delay claims.

• Ensuring accurate paper filing and record maintenance.

Requirements

Candidates MUST have the following experience to be considered:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a complex litigation paralegal, including experience handling case proceedings in state and federal courts

• Proficient in using the Blue Book for legal citation

• Experience with e-Filing and Court Filings, including Paper Filing

• Familiarity with PACER for accessing U.S. court records

• Ability to perform Cite Check - Shepardize and Shepardizing for ensuring the validity of case law citations

• Proven experience in Drafting Pleadings, Preparing Pleadings, and handling Legal Pleadings

• Previous involvement in Trial Preparation and handling Complex Litigation cases

• Experience with conducting Depositions and facilitating Mediation sessions
