Job Summary
Old Dominion University invites applications from experienced human resources leaders for the position of Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer.
This leader will oversee the transformation of HR as it rebrands, rebuilds, and becomes more forward focused on the utilization of technology, AI, data collection, and analytics and moves to a Business Partner model. Additionally, ODU has recently merged with Eastern Virginia Medical School to form the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences ( VHS ) at Old Dominion University. The Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer will serve as a strategic partner in navigating the post integration landscape.
This key leader will report to and serve as an advisor to the VP of Human Resources, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on strategic initiatives, while leading ODU’s HR organization and a department of approximately 30, with three direct reports. They will run the day-to-day execution of HR programs, policies, and procedures including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Total Rewards, and Employee Relations.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants are required to have a minimum of 15 years of related HR experience, or training and experience, with demonstrated leadership in human resources. While a Master’s is strongly preferred, a Bachelor’s degree is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education is highly desired but not required.
Conditions of Employment
