Standard Hours – 100% in office role. Monday-Friday with alternating weekends

  • 3 shifts available:

  • 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

  • 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM

  • 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM or 7:00 PM - 3:30 AM

Competitive Pay - $18.00 an hour (depending on experience)

A day in the role…

  • Use customer service skills to greet, instruct, direct and assist patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area.

  • Facilitate the revenue cycle process to include but not limited to patient registration, insurance verification to confirm active policy, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiry functions.

  • Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems.

  • Work collaboratively with various departments on patient access related information.

  • Conduct pre-registration and insurance verification for services.

  • Provide coverage to assigned registration locations including those outside of primary work location or by task assignment based on operational needs

  • Currently the patient registration techs in the ED are divided into 3 areas and they will be trained on all areas-

    1. Quick Book - this is the most basic patient registration when they walk into the ER. They will get the patient name, DOB, basic demographic info to get them checked in. There is no insurance verification at this point - they will go straight to the triage nurse to go over systems
    1. Minor Care - This is at the front (second desk) -insurance verification to confirm active policy, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiry functions. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems - getting the rest of the demographic info needed (up front provider who sees patient in triage room and one that sees patient in the waiting room)
    1. Main Treatment Area- this is the same process as minor care however these are for more serious patients - full registration
  • They also have mental health registration, which they are seeing alot of recently

  • Currently the ED is seeing a lot of mental health, trauma, cold & flu, etc--- NEED to be comfortable with this type of setting

  • Medical Receptionist

  • Hospital Experience

  • Patient Registration

  • Patient Access

  • EPIC Experience

  • Must be comfortable working in an emergency department setting, keeping in mind the fast pace nature and the exposure to different medical conditions.
