Job Description
The Department of Psychology at Old Dominion University seeks two Assistant Professors to support our Industrial/ Organizational (I/O) Psychology concentration in our Ph.D. program. These are tenure track, 10-month faculty positions, and the area of interest for research and teaching is open. Responsibilities include:
Teaching undergraduate courses;
Teaching graduate courses in the Psychology Department;
Conducting high quality, programmatic research;
Seeking external research funding; and
Mentoring Ph.D. students.

Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. with a concentration in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related field. Candidates who provide evidence that their Ph.D. will be conferred by July 25, 2025 will be considered.
Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
Applicants must show potential for quality teaching and demonstrate strong potential for research excellence as evidenced by publications and potential for securing external funding.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with a research program that complements and expands that of current faculty within the Department of Psychology.

About the Department
ODU’s Department of Psychology is in the College of Sciences and includes 26 full-time faculty members, approximately 1,200 undergraduate majors, and 60 students in our graduate programs. The department offers a terminal Master’s degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. with concentrations in Health Psychology, Human Factors, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The department also participates in the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, an APA approved program. Faculty research is currently funded by NIH , NSF , SAMHSA , NASA , and other entities.
