Nome Community Center Director of Operations in Nome, Alaska

[**NATURE OF WORK: This full-time position will assist the Executive Director by supporting program managers with grant management, compliance and operational procedures to maintain sustainability and high-level accountability of all programs under the umbrella of Nome Community Center.

  • Provide direction to each program manager in the application and management of the grants that support their programs
  • Work closely with program managers to review monthly program status and file quarterly reports
  • Develop and maintain compliance and risk management protocols to ensure transparency and adherence to program requirements, licensing and accreditation
  • Monitor submission of applications, claims and required monitoring procedures for all meal programs
  • Oversee income properties, monitor vehicle use and participate in asset management
  • Negotiate contracts for insurances, outside services and auditors and memorandums of agreement with community partners
  • Monitor revenue and expense to support the accuracy of accounts receivables and payables
  • Oversee fundraising efforts, donor tracking and promotion
  • Work closely with the accountant and auditor for the annual year-end closing, business license renewal, and biennial reporting
  • Direct administrative operations and supervise direct reports
  • Participate in the preparation of reports to the Board of Directors
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High school graduate or GED. College degree preferred
  • Solid mathematical and accounting skills
  • High level computer operation skills including word processing, spreadsheets and other business programs using both Mac and PC
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and accept responsibility as assigned
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, to meet the public, and to render service cordially
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as it pertains to agency and staff

  • B.A. degree desired with experience in accounting or related field preferred
  • Experience in business management and organizational leadership
  • Ability to work alone with minimum supervision
  • Understanding of and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Criminal background clearance required
