Nome Community Center Director of Human Resources in Nome, Alaska

[**NATURE OF WORK: This position is responsible for supporting the people functions of the organization in partnership with the Executive Director in accordance with the policies and practices for Nome Community Center.

  • Oversight of employee hiring, selection, onboarding, training, development, and separation
  • Primarily responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legal- compliant human resource policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing strategic talent management goals
  • Research, develop, and implement compensation strategy, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs and provide recommendations to the Executive Director
  • Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements
  • Develop and implement HR policies, supporting day-to-day HR functions and serve as HR point of contact for staff and others
  • Work closely with program managers to support and offer guidance on employee relations issues to include attendance, workplace conflict resolution, and corrective action when necessary
  • Direct the performance management system, training managers to conduct meaningful evaluations, meeting the on-time review schedule for new and existing staff members
  • Ensure personnel record compliance, including an annual personnel file audit
  • Manage Human Resource Information System and handle all aspects of payroll, compensation, and benefits
  • Prepare and distribute periodic employee surveys and prepare reports on findings for the Board of Directors
  • Support the planning and execution of team meetings and retreats that support a culture centered on our core values, including coordinating both virtual and in-person team meetings
  • In conjunction with the ED, design and facilitate critical diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

[*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *]{times="" new="" roman",="" serif"=""}

  • SHRM-CP certification required or at least 3 years of experience in Human Resource field.
  • High level computer operation skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and HRIS system
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and accept responsibility as assigned
  • Ability to work with other staff, to meet the public, and to render service cordially
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as it pertains to agency and staff records

B.A. degree desired with experience in Human Resources.

Experience in personnel management and organizational leadership highly desirable.
