The Commerce + Ecosystems (C+E) Commerce team is working to enable an easier experience for customers and partners to grow, as well as to buy and do business with us by delivering a dependable, safe, and secure commerce infrastructure. The Ecosystems team is committed to driving discovery and awareness of Microsoft within our ecosystem of products and services, as well as reaching technical communities around the globe. 

Ecosystems Engineering has a new opportunity for Senior Software Engineer to positively impact how people experience Microsoft's technology. You'll be responsible for building Content + Learning experiences through constant innovation, design, and implementing state-of-the-art systems. In this role, you'll help teams meet complex engineering challenges in client software and backend services. You and your team will partner closely with design and program management to optimize for user success.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional requirements. 

  • Design & develop scalable and performant services. 

  • Lead the team on technical design decisions. 

  • Design, code, test and deploy features using CI/CD model.

  • Build solid understanding of web, UI, and cloud services.  

  • Leverage knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) to design and implement cloud-native solutions.

  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor for outage and initiate relevant actions to mitigate.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 7+ years of experience in commercial software development with (C#, C++ or Java) 

  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field. 

  • Strong communication skills in English. 

  • Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience with security and compliance around privacy, accessibility, disaster recovery, and monitoring.

  • Passionate about shipping secure, accessible, and world-ready applications that allow customers to be more inclusive and productive.

  • Experience with Cloud Platforms like Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud. 

  • Knowledge of best practices for software engineering, testing, and documentation.

  • Great coding and design skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise with C#.

  • Expertise with Azure Cloud Platform. 

  • Solid understanding of Engineering Excellence processes and requirements. 

  • Experience with Azure DevOps work item tracking, build and release systems.

  • Experience with Azure Resource Manager templates or other “infrastructure as code” systems.

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment systems and paradigms. 

  • Familiarity with distributed systems. 

  • Experience with web front end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Typescript)  

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
