COSMOS is a strategic UnitedHealthcare claims platform - Comprehensive On-line Software for Management & Operational Support. The COSMOS suite provides membership and claims processing of nearly 7 million members with a monthly claims volume of over 3.5 million for Medicare and Retirement, Medica, MN and Optum Businesses. Currently, active user codes exceed 16,000.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain programs for mainframe technology (COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, REXX)

• Be able to follow agile process.

• Basic, structured, standard approach to work

• Creates thorough, professional quality project documentation and technical specifications

• Evaluates software change requests, determines business needs or conducts root cause analysis, and implements technically efficient solutions

• Assesses the impact of software changes and new development on other systems; conducts integration tests to mitigate risks

• Proactively recommends, schedules, and performs software improvements and upgrades

• Recommends best practices and policies for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting end user access and usage of database applications

• Perform other relevant job duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

• Solid analytical skills and have good knowledge in Mainframe technologies – COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, REXX

• Solid analytical skills to debug the defects

• Ability to write programs from scratch

Preferred Qualifications:

• Healthcare Domain knowledge

• Knowledge on open-source technologies like Java, Python
