Your Boat Club LLC Marine Technician in Nisswa, Minnesota

We are looking for a reliable, self-assured Marine Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on various watercraft(s) at our Gull Lake location. YBC provides a fun and safe environment! A Marine Technician specializes in repairing and maintaining water vessels such as ships, boats, and yachts. Among their responsibilities include addressing the clients' issues and concerns, troubleshooting problems, inspecting and fixing electrical and mechanical equipment, installing new systems, and assessing existing ones to identify areas needing improvement, conducting upgrades as required. Furthermore, as a marine technician, it is essential to maintain an active communication line with team members while adhering to the safety policies and regulations. 

To be successful as a Marine Technician, you should have excellent attention to detail and strong self-discipline. An outstanding Marine Technician demonstrates great hand-eye coordination and should be able to follow written and verbal instructions.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning, repairing, and maintaining all parts of the boat or vessel. 

  • Reading through repair and installation orders to determine the material, time, and equipment required. 

  • Repairing hydraulic and steering systems. 

  • Making oil and other fluid changes. 

  • Performing preventative maintenance on vessels. 

  • Driving and docking different vessels. 

  • Performing plumbing and intake repairs. 

  • Testing various boat equipment. 

  • Repairing functions, including engine and electrical work. 

  • Maintaining knowledge of current marine diagnostic technology. 

  • Following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) protocols. 

  • Documenting and communicating repairs to customers. 

  • Handling heavy machinery such as forklifts, tractors, towing boats, launching boats from a ramp, etc. 

    Required Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • Relevant certificate may be required. 

  • Knowledge of engine systems. 

  • Knowledge of boat systems and components. 

  • Knowledge of mechanical principles and their application to marine systems. 

  • Practical experience with tools and equipment used in marine maintenance. 

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals. 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Good customer service skills. 

  • A willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback. 

    Working Conditions:

    Working in a shop environment can be physically demanding as it often involves standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy objects, and working with machinery. The environment can also be noisy and require the use of personal protective equipment. However, it can also be a rewarding career for those who enjoy working with their hands and seeing the tangible results of their work. Proper safety measures and training are essential to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment. 

    Compensation:

    It will be competitive with similar positions and negotiable depending on experience, along with being eligible for paid time off, healthcare with dental, vision, accident add-ons, and IRA plans.
