Pickering Manor, Newtown's premier center for senior living, was opened in 1963 thanks to the generosity of Mr. Henry Russell Pickering. He bequeathed his home and a sum of money for the creation of a retirement center to serve the older citizens of Newtown and vicinity.

This unique non-profit retirement community is located in historic Newtown and is owned and operated by the Community Welfare Council of Newtown.

We are seeking a qualified, compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of prior experience working in a nursing home, and must demonstrate a genuine interest in providing care to elderly people. This position involves multiple duties, including taking vital signs and recording information about patients, helping patients with daily living activities and responding to patient needs in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Incorporate medical and nursing procedures and recommendations into working activities.
  • Provide safety, comfort, and assistance to residents in one or more patient care areas in a nursing home.
  • Perform activities that promote the physical and mental health of residents of a long-term care facility.
  • Provide for the personal hygiene and safety of residents.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate activities designed to enhance the physical and social activity of clients.
  • Accommodate the need for assistance to clients who require assistance in performing activities of daily living.
  • Communicate with the client, family members, other health professionals, and members of the community involved in care to develop an individualized plan for care.

Qualifications - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification - Experience in nursing home settings - Proficiency in taking vital signs accurately - Knowledge of basic life support procedures - Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems - Understanding of medical terminology and documentation - Ability to provide patient care with compassion - Experience in catheter care - HIPAA compliance knowledge - Strong communication and interpersonal skills
