Role Purpose

Provide technical assistance and support during all stages of the warranty part investigation process

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the definition of the methods and procedures for effective warranty part analysis.

  2. Carry out warranty part analysis in accordance with the Warranty Management Process and aligned with GKN and customer requirements.

  3. Assist in the analysis of customer warranty data and key performance indicators (KPI's). Maintain and utilize warranty database (GRAD or others)

  4. Perform warranty parts return investigation and support root cause and liability analysis.

  5. Based on warranty data and part analysis, escalate any reliability risk predictions to the engineer.

  6. Assist in the timely reporting of the part return investigation results. Retain appropriate documented information and warranty parts as evidence of the analysis.

  7. Coordinate documentation of warranty data for customer based warranty systems

  8. Support Quality and Engineering functions by performing tasks that enable data collection for Supplier Change Requests/PPAP Submissions

  9. Participate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers

  10. Contribute to warranty improvement roadmaps to meet customer and business objectives.

  11. Organize and present data to the management team to support decision making

  12. Ensure the respective warranty area meets Safety and 5S Guidelines

  13. Undertake training for changes in technology and quality requirements.

  14. Responsible for communication and enforcement of Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality policies and procedures

Product Safety Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the GKN Product Safety Policy and Product Safety Procedure.

  • Immediately report PPSI (Potential Product Safety and Integrity) concerns to the Quality Manager in production or the Chief Engineer in development.

Qualification and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years’ combined experience in AWD Driveline Torque Products

  • Experience working in a Quality Function

  • English -Essential

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Problem solving skills (ex. 5WHYs, 8D, fishbone, PPS)

  • Computer literacy in necessary software aptitude

  • Manufacturing knowledge or experience

  • Familiar with basic Vehicle Evaluation Methods

  • Excellent mechanical assembly and dis-assembly skills

  • Accurate interpretation of Engineering drawings, basic GD&T, and execution of Engineering and Manufacturing instructions

Other requirements

Essential

  • Required to use the mandatory personal protective equipment

  • Availability required for an 8 hour daily shift plus additional hours (8 hours plus OT when required)

  • Required to lift and carry up to 25 lbs

  • Required to handle small parts and tools

  • Required to measure parts using small gauging instruments (both hands to grip and hold parts)

  • Required to bend and reach equipment placed in heights (from bending to low knee area to overhead)

  • Required to stand noises coming from moving machinery, equipment and parts manufacturing

  • Required to pay permanent attention to moving machinery, equipment and parts manufacturing

Technical

  • Understanding of GKN driveline manufacturing processes and products (Axles/Transmissions, Driveline and Power Train systems)

  • Experience with product warranties and analysing warranty data

  • Experience with warranty management systems

  • Knowledge of customer standards and requirements

  • Interpretation of drawings and technical specifications

  • Experience/training in ISO/TS 16949 systems

  • Experience conducting RCFAs (root cause failure analyses) on products

  • Lean Principles, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma training

  • Familiar with work done in the inspection labs
