The City of Newport, Rhode Island is accepting applications for the position of Entry-Level Police Officers. *The Newport Police Department is dedicated to working in partnership with the community to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods. SALARY: Police Officer Recruitwhile attending RI Municipal Police Academy: $1,000 per week Probationary Police Officer: $58,683 per year* Permanent Police Officer: $63,080 - $78,365*per year

*MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: *You must be at least 21 years of age or older by Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Must be a high school graduate or possess a General Education Diploma (GED). Applicants claiming veteran's preference must present a DD-214 separation form. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be a United States Citizen or authorized to work in the United States. Must pass the Physical Fitness and Written tests provided by Fit2ServeRI.

**There is no requirement to be a resident of the City of Newport or State of Rhode Island resident.
