Naval Supply Systems Command SUPERVISORY LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in Newport News, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist within NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk (FLCN), Industrial Support Department, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Integrated Logistics Support Division, Material Management Branch, located at Newport News, VA. Responsibilities You will serve as the single provider for all New Construction (NC) and Repair and Modernization Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for all Combatant Afloat Units assigned to the NAVSUP FLC Norfolk area of responsibility. You will develop and/or review cost studies that influence decisions on the need for contractor versus government logistics in sustaining major items and critical repair parts for new or enhanced systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that GFM and outfitting material are adequately identified, controlled, and expedited You will coordinate efforts to assist Type Commanders in obtaining GFM through inversion or cannibalization requests. You will perform a variety of managerial and technical duties related to overall Branch responsibilities while exercising necessary administrative controls and professional supervision. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating knowledge of logistics support functions to include government furnished material, fitting-out, government property control and disposition, and freight traffic functions for naval vessels including new construction, overhaul, and post shakedown. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following duties: 1) Applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues and studies involved in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) planning concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics program operations; 2) Conducting detailed analyses of complex logistics functions, work processes, and workloads as part of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) planning; 3) Utilizing detailed knowledge of the general principles, procedures, techniques, and practices followed in ship construction, conversion and repair logistics, and material management functions; and 4) Utilizing knowledge of the technical features and uses of shipboard equipment and its support material as they relate to outfitting/fitting-out of new construction/conversion and overhaul of naval vessels allowing for effective delivery of required materials to assigned vessels.
