Insight Global Network Engineer in Newport News, Virginia

Job Description

Insight Global is currently hiring a Mid-Senior level Network Engineer in support of a client local to Newport News, VA. This individual will be responsible for both maintenance and enhancements to their current on-prem networking environment. The Network Engineer will perform Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching, along with troubleshooting issues within the environment and suggesting upgrades to improve the efficiency of the network. This is predominately a Cisco environment, so expertise within Cisco hardware is critical to success in this role. The Network Engineer will also provide technical support and guidance to Jr. Network Engineers & collaborate heavily with the Security Team & Server team to ensure optimization of the network, so strong communication is required.

Compensation:

$33.00/hr to $37.00/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

Cisco Certifications are highly desired

 Strong experience working as a Network Engineer within a Cisco environment, including Layer 2/3 routing and switching

 Proven experience implementing and troubleshooting LAN technologies, such as vLANs, trunking, spanning-tree and port security

 Strong experience working with Cisco hardware and setting up switched networks

 Prior experience with network design and implementations Bachelors Degree

Hands-on experience with any network security tools such as Cisco ASA, FirePower, etc. null
