WSP's Industry team are looking for Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineers at various grades to join our team. We work on projects in process industries with a focus on pharmaceutical and fine chemicals, but get involved with a wide range of other plants too including emerging hydrogen and battery projects.
We are a multi-disciplinary process industries design team that have involvement from concept to completion of projects. Core work is basic and detailed stages, but we get involved with all stages from site master planning up to construction completion, providing our own estimates and proposals support in winning work through delivering the designs not only as part of our own multi-disciplinary team, but often integrated with Clients who we work with very closely.
Our safety culture is second to none and in the high hazard industries that we work in is a critical element of our success.
Core industry teams are based in Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and the north east (Newcastle and Stockton-on-Tees offices), but WSP have offices in numerous locations and we have flexibility in selecting office location depending on specifics of role.
YOUR TEAM
We work on projects of various sizes often closely integrated with the Client doing cut-and-carve modifications to existing plants as well as designing new facilities on brown/green-field sites.
Reporting to the Head of E,C&I the role offers scope for development and promotions both within the discipline and the wider WSP organisation as well as opportunities for line management.
We are a relatively small team of professional Electrical and Control & instrument engineers within the industry discipline and have a very open, friendly and collaborative culture underpinned by a strong safety culture which runs throughout the entire business. We have our own in-department design team which provides both CAD support and assistance with engineering activities.
Our team works across several sectors within industry giving a great opportunity for development and learning. In addition, we also work closely with colleagues in other divisions both in the UK and abroad and often share work giving an even wider breath to the possible experiences available.
A lot of our clients are top tier COMAH sites giving great exposure to unique challenges and working with very professional Clients who value safety and experience of working in hazardous environments.
One of our core strengths is the ability to take on new challenges as the experience gained across the various sectors we work in prepares us well for the regular new challenges we come across.
Essential
Good interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a multi-discipline team. Versatile, reliable and resourceful – it’s about being the right person – we can help fill any knowledge or experience gaps
Customer focus, commitment to quality management and problem solving
Experience in the design of LV systems especially around drives and MCCs.
Experience of Amtech software.
Experience in the selection and specification of BPCS and ideally SIS.
Experience in the selection and specification of field instrumentation.
Experience in electrical engineering design on capital projects
Experience of electrical design in ATEX hazardous areas
Ability to travel within the UK for site and supplier visits
Desirable
Experience in design of one or more of our key sectors.
Degree qualified in appropriate engineering subject and ideally Chartered Engineer or working towards.
HV experience upto 33kV
CompEx12 qualification.
