YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?

  • As a senior member of the Newcastle based team you will have supervisory or people management responsibility, with a particular emphasis on maximising the performance of those that work in your team.

  • You will be responsible for an element of business unit performance e.g. sales targets, customer service levels relating to Highways and Highways Drainage.

  • Business Development activities supported by the Regional Director (north east & Cumbria) and the Bid Management team.

  • Section sustainability and growth of not only your team, but the wider Roads (& T&I) community will be key.

  • Engaging with and developing good working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities / Developers and Combined Authorities across the north east & Cumbria.

YOUR TEAM

  • Working closely with North Tyneside Council, Gateshead, South Tyneside & Redcar & Cleveland are just a small selection of the client base for which we already have excellent working relationships and a forward workload.

  • Working on projects such as design support for OBC and FBC’s across Tyne & Wear and Teesside to help clients (and WSP internal teams where applicable) obtain valuable 3 rd party funding from DfT and other key stakeholders.

  • Reporting to Newcastle Team Leader, Roads within T&I

  • 2 teams consisting of Highways Design and Highways Drainage working in Newcastle with a wider Consultancy Team of around 200 multi-disciplines including traffic engineering, highways engineering, bridge/structures, intelligent infrastructure, earth & environment, Development Infrastructure and transport planning.

  • Role has significant opportunity for development such as progression to Associate Director role is very possible based on experience and sustained in-job performance.

  • Newcastle office is based at Amber Court, Newcastle Business Park, in close proximity to city centre, coffee shops and amenities. Also good links for public transport such as bus within just a few minutes walk.

  • This exciting role provides an ambitious individual with the opportunity to shine, progress their career with support from line manager and Highway design and highway drainage teams that work excellent together both professionally and socially.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • A degree in Highways design related field or equivalent

  • Be experienced in working with Local Authority Clients and Developers.

  • A strong local network of contacts that can be built upon

  • A personable character to build relationships with colleagues

  • A determination and drive to build a team.

  • Excellent working knowledge of the green book business case process (DfT).

  • Shall have substantial highways design experience and technical skills appropriate to the discipline.
