About the position:

The Business Development Manager is a key leadership position within our Resource Industries Go to Market team. This team supports our dealers within Asia Pacific to maximise sales and support outcomes for end users, solidifying Caterpillar as the leading solutions provider for our customers.

This role owns the execution of our divisional strategy, a key element of which is supporting our Region Managers to develop, implement and drive strategic growth initiatives within their territories. Additionally, they will partner with the region teams to deliver business plans for machine sales and aftermarket services growth, as well as support the execution of profitable growth initiatives. Project governance is also within this role’s remit, and the Business Development Manager and their team will provide Project Management Office (PMO) support for various department projects.

Position duties may include, but not limited to.

  • Partner with Region Leadership team to support strategy execution and achieve our profitable growth targets.

  • a key coordination point for the sub-region teams and matrix partners.

  • Represent the region in key strategic teams and functional projects.

  • Own key regional processes including:

  • Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process

  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

  • Site Performance (tracking of Site Performance metrics and initiatives)

  • Business planning

  • Reporting

  • Prepare meeting materials including for Executive Office reviews and act as VP delegate where necessary.

  • Apply LEAN methodology to go-to-market processes.

  • Reporting to the incumbent is the department 6 Sigma black belt.

  • Lead the planning and execution of Caterpillar’s participation in events and conferences.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Marketing, Engineering or Finance is highly desired.

  • Customer focused leader with significant experience in related field.

  • Ability to influence within a matrix organization.

  • Seasoned commercial skills and a broad background in marketing and product support of capital goods, components and/or systems.

  • Ability to negotiate and achieve sound enterprise decisions.

  • Ability to quickly analyse situations and provide business guidance, recommending solutions to complex commercial issues.

  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills and the demonstrated ability to get results through people.

  • Experience in mining is advantageous but not essential.
