Amergis Certified Surgical Technician in Newburgh, Indiana
The Surgical Technician/Tissue Processing Technician is responsible for the sterilization of surgical equipment, arrange surgical equipment and adjust medical tools to ensure that the surgical devices are functioning properly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments, according to instructions
Assists team members to place and position patient on table
Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves
Aids team to don gowns and gloves
Maintains supply of fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operation
Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by the surgeon during operation.
Puts dressings on patient following surgery
Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation
Washes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides and sterilizers
Cleans operating room
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Surgical Technologist certification as applicable per state and/or client requirement
One year experience as a Surgical Technician preferred (Tissue Processing Technologist – only)
Degree in biology related field which includes a degree / certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP or 10/7
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
Primary Location: Newburgh, IN
Shift Requirements: 12hr Days
Float Requirements: Floating between 2 locations, 8 miles apart. Usually assigned to one campus or the other based on skillset, must be open to both.
On Call/Call-Back: On call 1x/week and every 6th weekend. 30 minute response time.
Weeknight call starts after shift to following morning. Weekend call starts Friday after shift to Monday at 0700
Weekend: Every weekend / Holidays: As scheduled
Required Certifications Attached upon Submittal: NBSTSA CST, AHA BLS https://www.nbstsa.org/verify-credentials#verify-wrap-scroll
Minimum Experience: at least 1 year CST in OR;
NO NEW TRAVELERS - 1 previous Travel assignment completed required
Charting/Equipment: EPIC Preferred
Unit Specific Skillset: MUST HAVE STRONG Neuro, Ortho and/or Vascular experience
Unit Information: OR 2 campuses. Level II Trauma Center, 30 OR Suites.

GSA hours are not guaranteed the week of Orientation. Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays where unit is closed
