Senior Scientist II, Glass Location(s): Granville, OH, US, 43023-1200 Function: Research and Development Audience: Experienced Professional Work Arrangement: On Site Requisition ID: 62869 Job Title: Senior Scientist II, Glass Revision Date: 06/10/2024 PURPOSE OF THE JOB The role of Senior Scientist II for Glass is a key position within Owens Corning's R&D organization responsible for glass development and the material inputs to making glass. Responsibilities include development of new glasses, experimental design and analysis, creation of empirical models, identifying novel glass-making materials (both virgin and recycled), and technical mentorship. The successful candidate will work across OC's glass platforms and material needs, taking a leading role in developing solutions to challenging problems that turn knowledge into value. The job is located in Granville, OH. Travel requirements are expected to be 10-20%, including domestic and international travel to support R&D and business priorities. Reports to: Glass S&T Leader Span of Control: Individual Contributor JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Research & Technical Project Leadership Integrate our collective technical know-how as an organization into a specific business opportunity, making evidence-based decisions. Apply deep knowledge and insight of internal/external technologies and customers to boost OC's technical, financial, and organizational performance. Connects performance proof to the value proposition and customer's needs. Lead and oversee research projects from conception to completion, providing technical expertise, guidance, and strategic direction to achieve business goals. Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and draw meaningful conclusions, while ensuring the highest level of data integrity and quality. Lead through ambiguity, applying critical thinking to make the best choice based on data. Balance practical and theoretical approaches when making decisions. Proactively share knowledge and steps forward to participate in any project activities to get the job done. Innovation and Discovery Build, refine, and own the fundamental understanding of our materials and how they influence our processes and products. Contribute to the development of novel methodologies, technologies, and scientific approaches to solve complex problems.
