The IT&S Site Director is responsible for oversight of information technology activities at the acute and hospital based ambulatory facilities for the location(s) they are assigned. This role plans, coordinates, and directs all operational activities of the IT department, as well as provides direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The IT&S Site Director works closely with site leadership to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of organization. This position requires advanced time management skills in directing multiple concurrent projects in addition to flexibility dealing with people at a variety of levels. Effective communication is also required with internal IT&S staff; vertical and horizontal management; medical and dental staff leadership; external vendors; auditors; industry associations; and other organizations.

This role also will provide advice and counsel to affiliate management in assessing the information needs of the assigned site and develop tactical plans to address these needs. The IT&S Site Director is responsible for working within the IT&S Strategy and Strategic Plan of RWJBarnabas Health as needed for the site. This includes, but it not limited to, all standards, policies, and procedures and other guidelines established by the System IT&S functions. This role also requires participation on multiple committees and regularly scheduled meetings at the affiliate and corporate levels. This role also serves as the HIPAA Security Officer is responsible for coordinating compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations, 45 C.F.R. 160, 162 and 164.

Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/License

Education

  • Preferred: Master s degree in Health Care, Information Technology, Business, or related field

  • Minimum: Bachelor s degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience

Work Experience:

  • Preferred: Ten+ (10) years IT leadership or project management experience implementing information systems and/or large-scale and complex enterprise-wide initiatives

  • Minimum: Five (5) years experience with IT leadership in managing large-scale enterprise-wide initiatives within a complex IT&S organization in a multi-facility healthcare delivery network

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, facilitation/training skills, project management capabilities, and leadership orientation

  • Strong assertiveness skills and ability to manage conflict in a variety of situations

  • Superior organizational and people management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to align and motivate key process stakeholders, including nurses, physicians, and other clinical/administrative staff

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams

Job Specific Requirements

Work with affiliate leadership to assess IT&S needs.

  • Act as IT service delivery and communication focal point for the facility for project updates and status, scheduled and unscheduled downtimes, and other critical events.

  • Manage relationships and provide guidance to the affiliate leadership team and IT&S.

  • Provide operational leadership with IT&S strategies and plans.

  • Work with key users to assess informational needs, including physicians, clinicians, and support staff

  • Works with facilities Operations Manager, affiliate leadership and IT&S on Information Systems strategy and needs for organization.

  • Prioritize requests, including ticket submissions and project requests.

  • Submit Status IT Report and Project Lists to Operational Leadership monthly or as appropriate.

  • Participate in hospital and IT&S committees and councils. Facilitate project related and IT Governance meetings.

Project manage implementations where necessary.

  • Maintain IT&S and Telecommunications budget for the facility.

  • Assist in the formulation of capital needs.

  • Maintain active IT&S project list within the facility.

  • Project Management of local implementations as needed.

  • Submit proper project request documentation including business case, and investments summary for IT&S review and participate in requisite meetings or councils.

  • Monitoring the status of the projects and taking any necessary steps to re-direct priorities, re-direct resources, re-define the work plan, etc., to ensure completion of project deliverables in accordance with agreed upon timeframe

  • Provide regular status reports to the VP of IT, CRM for all ongoing IT&S related items.

  • Ensuring quality of final deliverable assigned to teams

  • Identifying and monitoring risks on the technical aspects of the project; leading effort to develop strategies for mitigation of technical risks

  • Reviewing and approving logistics planning
