Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the ERP Support Specialist provides technical support in advancing NJTPAâs enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including but not limited to its SAP system and business intelligence platforms. Responsibilities include technical support of the ERP systemsâ life cycles (analyses, design, development, programming, implementation, optimization, testing, integration, and maintenance of applications), and functional support. The incumbent must have a sense of ownership to ensure smooth daily operation of all ERP applications. This role requires working closely with cross-functional teams, consultants, and partner agencies to identify business requirements, address information system needs, assess solutions, and solve ad-hoc information systems performance issues.
In addition, the ERP Support Specialist helps develop strategies to fully leverage the ERP systems and other technologies to improve business processes and create internal efficiencies in its operations. The incumbent assists in the overall day-to-day control of NJTPAâs ERP systemsâ projects and coordination of team resources, balancing the needs for program success with available resources and the skills and capabilities of staff and consultants. The incumbent will keep abreast of emerging technology trends and take an active interest in professional development to ensure their skills stay current and to educate the IT team on new technology. All duties will need to be performed in accordance with university policies, procedures, and core values. This position may occasionally require work outside of normal business hours to address information systems failures and/or meet program and project deliverables.
Essential Functions:
Provide technical support to maintain, advance, and integrate NJTPAâs ERP systems.
Maintain ERP/SAP system licenses.
Provide timely ERP user assistance and technical support in resolving issues.
Analyze functional and cross-functional business process needs and development of process improvement recommendations.
Work closely with end users to identify, analyze, and deploy core business processes and workflows to integrate into the ERP/SAP systems and business intelligence platforms.
Assist in the modification of procedures or changes in system integrations or applications to improve ERP/SAP systems performance.
Review detailed technical specifications for software development, implementation, and/or integration into existing application infrastructure.
Work with third party vendors and consultants providing ERP/SAP system licensing and support services.
Additional Functions:
Ensure full and efficient utilization of NJTPAâs ERP/SAP systems by reviewing and evaluating system design methodologies and strategies, validating data inputs, generating user reports, and identifying and installing automated workflow processes and enhancements to improve the user experience, consistent with best practices.
Create KPI dashboard on ERP system performance and user adoption, including benefit cost analysis and user feedback for management review.
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the organization's financial transactions, reporting, and accounting structure.
Assist with deployment and maintenance of SAP GUI interfaces and reports, including SAP Fiori and BI tools and dashboards to improve user experience, data sharing, and report development.
Assist with data integration and conversions, including integration of SAP human resource, finance, and procurement data.
Monitor and report routine ERP/SAP system performance.
Devise or modify standard operating procedures, methodologies, and guidelines for the ERP/SAP systemsâ users and administrators, including, best practices, data, architecture, security, quality, maintenance, and enhancement protocols.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
Bachelorsâ degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field is required.
Minimum three (3) yearsâ experience in software design, development, and production methodologies, data management, and systems integration technologies â including at least two (2) years of experience with ERP systems and Business Intelligence platforms.
Demonstrated knowledge of the deployment, configuration, and support of ERP systems, with a focus on financial management and accounting systems.
Working knowledge of standard hardware/software in a desktop/server environment, including MS Windows Server operating system, MS Office Suite and Office 365, SQL database, MS Power BI, Cognos, and Crystal Reports.
Demonstrated business analytics, technical analysis, software development, planning, and organizational skills.
At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position
Preferred Qualifications:
Mastersâ Degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
Experience with ERP tools designed for project-based, grant funded businesses.
Experience with SAP S/4 HANA, Fiori, BI, and Lumira. /
SAP Certification.
Strong understanding of Information Systems management best practices.
Change management skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Self-motivated with ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
