Position Summary:

This position serves as the main administrator of the undergraduate biomedical engineering program. The job involves coordinating the curriculum, addressing academic administrative functions, advising students and teaching classes.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for maintaining the undergraduate curriculum including specifying course offerings, program and curricular track requirements, and advisement of students.

  • Course scheduling based on faculty input.

  • Maintenance of course offerings to meet enrollment and identify upcoming teaching needs to the Chair.

  • Maintain an effective undergraduate advising process including premed student cohorts.

  • Liaison to the Center for Student Success for the advisement of first year and transfer students.

  • Reviews published program information for accuracy and consistency.

  • Reports programmatic issues to the Programs Director of BME for formulation of solutions and reporting to the Chair.

  • Co-Chairs the BME Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.

  • Reports proposed changes in the curriculum, degree requirements, etc. to the chair.

  • Instruction of BME courses as assigned by the Chair of the department.

  • Instructional duties will be within the maximum allowable contact hours for this position.

Additional Functions:

  • Reviews and reports program assessment.

  • Participates in Advisory Board meetings and organizes student feedback sessions.

  • Recommends programmatic changes; and documents program revisions resulting from findings.

  • ABET accreditation: Assists the ABET coordinator with external accreditation activities and/or academic program reviews.

  • Liaison to the Albert Dorman Honors College.

  • Work with students towards experiential learning including mentoring capstone teams, managing independent studies and advise COOP student requirements as necessary.

  • Help Organize Recruitment events (e.g., experience days, open houses, NJMS interviews, new student orientations, transfer events).

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • MS degree in biomedical engineering or equivalent.

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly.

  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong judgment and decision-making capability.

  • 5 yrs previous experience working in an academic environment.

  • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in biomedical engineering or equivalent.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Stellar interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members and external partners.

  • Polished and professional demeanor in dealing with all situations.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be independently effective.
