JPMorgan Chase Head of Merchant Controls - Merchant Services Technology in Newark, Delaware

Chase Merchant Services is looking for an experienced technology leader for JPMC's Acquiring Platform & Rails Technology Controls Execution Team. In this role, the successful applicant will have expertise in program oversight, delivery of technology solutions, internal risk and controls policies, cybersecurity and regulatory standards, and the ability to extract insights from execution to drive continuous improvement. This role requires a high level of security domain knowledge, including familiarity with PCI Standards, expertise with program and project execution, secure software delivery life cycle and programming architectures. This leader must be able to problem solve on the fly and make appropriate risk-based decisions with limited information while functioning calmly under pressure and communicating effectively. This leader is responsible for working collaboratively with technical leads, engineers, and our cybersecurity and controls partners to define, implement, and execute solutions which address risk and controls gaps, cybersecurity vulnerabilities and regulatory requirements in a complex payments ecosystem.

The successful candidate will be an experienced technology leader that thrives at managing complex technology programs with have far-reaching implications for clients, employees, and stakeholders throughout the firm. You will lead a high-performing team with deep technology and controls subject matter expertise and experience managing large, cross line of business programs. Your passion and experience in risk and controls and payments will help solve complex and critical problems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide program management, oversight, reporting and escalation pertaining to strategic direction and priorities as they relate to risk and controls policies, regulatory standards and cybersecurity requirements.

  • Understand priorities, issues, challenges and requirements, and dependencies/impact to other areas, including key strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure effective communications among executives, team members, and stakeholders.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in the delivery of projects with high level of complexity, directly affecting the firm's strategy to meet control policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish priorities, manage resources and build and incentivize a high-performing team.

  • Partner with business owners, product owners, project managers, technology, controls and finance to ensure completeness, accuracy, efficiency and timely delivery of cybersecurity and controls remediation efforts.

  • Analyze project risks and impacts and make relevant recommendations to product and technology executives to mitigate issues.

  • Quantify exposure/severity of vulnerabilities/threats and potential business impacts.

  • Identify opportunities to automate or streamline current processes, focus on driving efficiency and improvements in controls.

This role requires a wide range of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated competence in leadership, team building, time management, organizational management, customer interface, and multiple stakeholder communications

  • Experience in risk and control management, risk assessments, risk taxonomies, reporting, and cybersecurity standards

  • Advanced knowledge of project execution methodology, tools and techniques

  • Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities

  • Controls-oriented leader, must appreciate and have a thorough understanding of the risk and controls environment and regulatory obligations

  • Exercise sound judgment; act with integrity; protect our company, clients and customers

  • Excellent written/verbal communications and analytical skills required. Must be able to easily grasp and communicate complex ideas

  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle and/or infrastructure project delivery

  • Knowledge of payments/acquiring technology trends and best practices

  • Advanced problem-solver with ability to find simple answers to complex questions or problems. Thinks outside the box. Uses knowledge gained through prior experience, education, training to resolve issues and remove barriers
