What You'll Contribute
The Head of Deposits Product Management will have profit and loss responsibility for our Deposits portfolio responsible for the day-2-day business management. The candidate will work across a broad group of direct and indirect reports to manage our product suite and be an end-2-end champion across the business to drive growth, reduce costs, optimize client experiences, simplify our tech stack, and maintain a strong Controls environment.
What You'll Do:
Serve as a P&L steward for our Retail & Brokered Deposits portfolio spanning a series of products across High Yield Savings, CDs, and Money Market Deposit Accounts totaling $21B in balances
Own Deposit Pricing and hold responsibility for managing our cost of deposits to plan and industry benchmark targets
Direct day-2-day business management across Product, Distribution, Client Experience, Marketing, Operations, Technologies, Legal, Risk, Controls, Compliance, and Finance teams.
Maintain awareness around industry and competitive trends in order to formulate prudent actions for Sallie Mae
Maintain a strong Controls environment with oversight of exceptions monitoring and ensuring accuracy in pricing and disclosure management in addition to serving as the primary contact for Audit and Regulatory inquiries
Provide direction to the Product Development process in regards to what should be built, why, and the economic opportunity
Hire, coach, mentor, and development junior talent on the team and across the organization
Prepare & deliver Business Performance updates across multiple senior forums throughout the organization
What You Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. MBA or Master’s degree candidates preferred
15+ years of experience in Financial Services with a focus on retail banking with expertise in Consumer or Small Business Deposits.
Superior business and financial acumen with proven expertise in Deposit pricing; able to think end-2-end across multiple functional areas including Product, Marketing, Risk, Operations, Technologies, and Finance
Experience in managing business controls and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements
Ability to form and influence relationships across a matrix organization to gain buy in and drive forward towards an aligned direction
Dynamic people leader, able to guide, develop, and motivate a broad audience of direct and indirect reports
Proven experience driving business & product direction, go-to-market strategy, and design with data-driven decisions within an Agile Product environment
Intellectual curiosity with the ability to learn fast and drive results in the right way
Ability to operate independently and work with a sense of urgency
Strong attention to detail but can also elevate up and see the big picture
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
