JPMorgan Chase Firmwide Financial Control - General Ledger Oversight and Control - Analyst in Newark, Delaware

The Firmwide Financial Control organization (FFC) is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Firm's financial results - books and records, while providing reporting to both internal and external clients.

The FFC organization closely examines the general ledger, operating systems, and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of the business to ensure the firm's financial information is accurately depicted for reporting and regulation purposes. This financial information is used by external analysts to assess the firm's financial position; by management to make sound financial decisions; by investors to make informed decisions; and by regulators to supervise and examine the firm appropriately.

The most common functions and activities owned by Firmwide Financial Control include but are not limited to the following: financial analysis, financial consolidation, reporting, balance sheet reconciliation/certification/substantiation, general ledger reconciliation reporting & governance, inter-entity control and governance, manual accounting/bookings to the general ledger and operating systems, and executing the month end close process.

Job Summary

The Ledger Oversight & Control analyst will serve as the first line of communication and assistance for business users of JPM's general ledger, SAP, as well as its reporting and reconciliation tools. The team works closely with Line of Business Controllers and Technology Partners to provide resolution for a wide variety of production issues, project implementations and user education. In addition, the applicant will primarily be supporting SAP's internal Multi-Currency process (MCA). MCA is a core process ensuring the firms Foreign Exchange (FX) exposure is correctly calculated and processed in the general ledger. Along with the daily review of MCA, the analyst will also take part in projects related to the General Ledger, creation of Legal Entities, and reference data. This individual will also act as the subject matter expert during project engagements and as a representative of the business where necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • SAP Multicurrency process controls including analysis of the systems internal revaluation and restatement process

  • Daily P&L Close process verification

  • Job performance effectiveness and accuracy

  • Monthly/Quarterly balance sheet reconciliation/substantiation and adherence to the firm wide General Ledger Attestation (GLA) standards for the specific accounts related to SAP controls

  • Preparing and processing of General Ledger entries

  • General Ledger legal entity and account set up validation

  • Business support and representation for events which require validations such as system enhancements/implementations, project go-lives, disaster recovery testing, etc.

  • Support for any audit or regulatory requests

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related.

  • Prior work experience of 1+ year in accounting or finance industry

  • Excellent Excel knowledge

  • Previous experience with SAP ERP system would be an advantage

  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools will be an asset

  • Understanding of financial statements, accounting procedures, internal and external reporting
