What You'll Contribute

The Director, Business Controls will support our Education Services business to ensure we’re delivering new products/features/experiences that support our transformation of becoming an Education Solutions Company. The candidate will work with Business & Product Managers across Education Services to ensure operational strategies and product controls are developed, maintained and up-to-date. This role requires a dynamic people leader that’s detail-oriented and well versed in Business and Controls Management.

What You'll Do

  • Liaison with product managers to ensure new functionality / feature delivery is being released with prudent business & controls monitoring in place

  • Second set of eyes on Ed Services roadmap that will submit any and all info through change management/PMO functions

  • Serve as the point of contact for Risk Control Self-Assessment, Audit, and Regulatory exams

  • Ensure diligent execution of policies and procedures within Product Operations; completing operational services in a timely manner and ensuring a high standard of delivery

  • Oversee Product Controls monitoring and reporting, creating an efficient and effective model of management accountability and exceptions reporting / research

  • Own and help drive process mapping efforts within the Product organization to help identify areas of efficiency and validate controls sufficiently mitigate areas of business/operational risk

  • Engage with the Business Controls Office & Risk Management partners to resolve outstanding operational errors and process breaks

What you have

Minimum: Indicate minimum education, skills and experience required.

  • Bachelors degree required; MBA or Master’s degree optional

  • 7+ years of experience in Financial Services in Controls, Audit, Quality Assurance, Operations, Risk Management, or Compliance

  • Proven people leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop talent

  • Ability to multi-task with accuracy, demonstrating excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills with the ability to converse across all levels of management

  • Proven strengths at collaboration across a matrixed organization to drive business outcomes

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Six Sigma / Process Improvement concepts a plus
