JPMorgan Chase Cost Basis Team Manager - Vice President in Newark, Delaware

As a Cost Basis Team Manager - Vice President within the Cost Basis Team, you will have a crucial role in ensuring compliance with tax withholding and information reporting regulations across the Commercial & Investment Bank and Consumer & Community Banking. You will be instrumental in establishing a standardized framework and maximizing efficiency, while providing exceptional client service. You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining client cost basis data reported on Form 1099-B while working with Product & Relationship Managers, Operations, Technology, Legal and Corporate Tax.

Job responsibilities

  • Analyze processes and workflows for efficiency opportunities and implement the automation strategy

  • Build and foster a durable culture and team. Support each team member through their career journey

  • Respond to complex requests for cost basis adjustments and associated client queries.

  • Identify problems, leverage automation tools to improve scale, and enhance the client experience

  • Reconcile tax lot information in the cost basis system to ensure accurate 1099 reporting

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that transactions are booked properly and are reflected accurately in the cost basis system

  • Research tax/cost basis consequences for corporate actions leveraging vendor applications, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, and company websites to ensure that proper adjustments are made for impacted holders

  • Analyze historical records and information provided by clients and other investment firms to reconstruct and verify the accuracy of cost basis information

  • Audit the accuracy of completed cost basis calculations and provides coaching and feedback to team members to continuously improve department quality metrics

  • Communicate with internal business partners to provide updates on the status of their requests and solicit additional information through written and verbal correspondences

  • Act as a subject matter expert to provide insight into cost basis related issues.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Advanced knowledge of automation and data analysis with great attention to detail

  • Excellent time management, problem resolution, research, and communication skills

  • Culture carrier, people management with high-level interpersonal skills

  • Formidable partnership with the business and aligning the team with the business's core objectives

  • Working knowledge of cost basis and tax reporting experience

  • High-level ability to collaborate across teams in a client impacting function

  • In-depth understanding of the securities industry and broker-dealer tax reporting requirements

  • Ability to operate in a deadline-oriented environment

  • Impressive client service and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment
