Cargill Pond Technician in Newark, California

This position is responsible for controlling and optimizing brine movements to produce solar salt.

Job duties include but are not limited to operating and monitoring pumps, opening and closing brine gates, taking brine samples, inspecting the solar pond infrastructure, and record keeping of pond and brine movement characteristics. The Brine Process is currently undergoing changes and this position is critical in establishing and monitoring it

Compensation: $29-$36/hr

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Concentrator Brine Movement

  • Crystallizer Brine Movements

  • Environmental/Rain Management

  • Safety Participation and Quality management

  • Levee maintenance program

  • Study and optimize process

  • Operate pump stations to ensure mechanical reliability

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility

  • High School Diploma/GED or a minimum of two years relevant work experience

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)

  • Basic use of a computer

  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Must be able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc.

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays with advance notice

  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)

  • Must be able to operate machinery

  • Valid driving license

Prefer Qualifications

  • Able to operate heavy equipment

  • Forklift certified

  • Prior experience in production related work
