POSITION SUMMARY:

The ED, Data Science will provides input into strategic plans or operational programs within the Data Science function for Global Online. This position will lead, define and deploy best-in-class advanced analytics practices to maximize the value generated from data. We are looking for someone who is not only a talented leader, but also has deep knowledge and experience applying statistical and data science methods (supervised learning, unsupervised learning, time series forecasting, neural networks, deep learning and natural language processing), along with programming skills to generate meaningful insights for our business. You will have the opportunity to partner with leaders across multiple teams within and outside the ELC Online organization to build and deploy advanced ML models delivering critical business impact.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble and lead a portion of the team attracting very top talent - the brightest minds in data science to not only keep up with, but also pioneer, in this space.

  • Collaborate with and influence leadership so that your team’s work directly impacts ELC Online strategy.

  • Develop new techniques and data that will enable answering previously unanswerable and new questions.

  • Deliver sophisticated models to drive impact across multiple areas such as campaign effectiveness and incrementality, planning and forecasting, personalization and recommendation engines, pricing, fraud, and customer support products.

  • Develop deep partnerships with engineering and product teams to deliver on major cross-functional measurements, testing, and modeling efforts.

  • Communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, including executives.

  • Provide success in partnering teams with dramatically varying backgrounds, from the highly technical to the highly creative.

  • Work with data engineers and Marketing partners to develop search related features using advanced machine learning techniques.

  • Interpret data to identify trends and significant relationships that can be applied to future data sets.

  • Develop algorithms that personalize/customize users’ shopping experience.

  • Implement excellent Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms from training to deployment along with managing complex data science workflows.

  • Develop proof-of-concept prototypes to prove out hypotheses.

  • Manage experience with data, including complex queries, exploratory data analysis, data visualization, advanced modeling and communication of applicable insights to audiences at varying levels of technical sophistication.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A plus if PhD or Masters degree in a quantitative field - computer science, engineering, statistics, operations research, economics, etc.

  • 8 years of experience in Analytics, Data Science or Software Engineering, both as an individual contributor and managing teams.

  • Experience designing a data science roadmap and executing the vision behind it.

  • Experience instilling a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results.

  • Track record of recruiting top talent in data science and analytics

  • Track record of delivering data-driven products and insights, and influencing product and engineering decisions.

  • SQL development skills writing complex queries.

  • Experience with Python, R, Java, C , Julia, or another widely used open-source programming language.

  • Experience deploying Machine Learning algorithms in a production environment. Experience in Deep Learning engineering. Experience in Reinforcement Machine Learning is a plus.
