Organization Overview:The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of Yorkville and East Harlem, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.
Position Summary:Reporting to the Site Director, the Venue Manager is responsible for welcoming individuals who are seeking access to the Isaacs Center Senior Center and Youth Center (including personnel, participants, interns, and volunteers) and ensuring that all health and safety protocols and procedures are followed while the building is in operation. To achieve the above, the Manager will be responsible for all entry points, enforce all identified guidelines, and support the preparedness of the organization and community in response to all health and safety needs and concerns. This position oversees special events occurring in the center, including set up, execution, and breakdown of events; greeting and directing guests; staying apprised of a changing event schedule; and reporting any facility needs to the Site Director. The Venue Manager is integral in helping to create a welcoming, positive, and safe environment at the Stanley Isaac’s Center for all visitors, guests, and participants.
Schedule:Monday through Friday, Per Diem
Hourly Rate:$15.00-$19.23
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
The primary responsibilities of this position will include the following:
Driving organizational efforts to create a healthy community and helping to reduce safety risks.
Demonstrating an in-depth understanding of all safety rules and regulations and working thoughtfully and consistently to improve our practices.
Maintaining the coordination, implementation, and administration of all safety protocols and procedures
Responding to questions and concerns with a sense of urgency and kindness, in person, on the telephone, and on-line
Working in collaboration with key personnel to educate the community on all applicable health standards and resources.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Greeting and welcoming individuals seeking access to the Isaacs Center Senior Center and Youth Center including personnel, participants, interns, and volunteers.
Ensuring that all health and safety guidelines are met throughout the event.
Informing Operations Director and Administrator on Duty of any issues or inquiries, etc.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Assist in gathering attendance and other data as needed. Comply with reporting and recordkeeping procedures.
The ability to independently open and close the sites based on agency procedures. This includes securing doors & windows & setting/disarming the alarm from the panel. Reporting suspicious activity.
Report building maintenance issues as needed to your supervisor.
Facility/Community Responsibilities
Represent Stanley Isaac’s Community Center to our community members and any guests that visit the center. Proactively greet all visitors, explain, and enforce venue and/or organizational safety procedures, and provide basic information as needed. Assist in establishing strong, positive relationships with all community members.
Provide venue and event management coverage for programming. Support the production and execution of a diverse schedule of events, meetings, rehearsals, auditions, classes, and performances.
In coordination with the Site Director, help manage and maintain the facility’s inventory, equipment, and facility, including program materials, sound system, tables and chairs, and basic cleaning upkeep.
Answering phone calls, questions, etc. in a prompt and polite manner
Providing and updating information about community programs and resources
Assisting individuals with completion of paperwork when necessary
Collecting and entering program data as needed.
Ensuring compliance with all organizational and regulatory expectations
Maintaining a clean, courteous, well-stocked and professional working environment
Assisting personnel with participant and program engagement as needed
Assisting in training and acclimating any new support personnel
Qualifications and Experience
A High School Degree or GED is desired.
Experience with venue and/or event management, preferably in the arts
Experience and flexible working in any high-volume/high-intensity industry
Happy, welcoming, and can-do attitude with participants and coworkers
Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on-site location
Excellent verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Detail-oriented and a team player
Computer Proficiency and superior keyboarding skills
Flexible/adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment
Passion for helping others in a community center environment
Ability to effectively interact with a broad spectrum of community members – older adults, children, parents, and caregivers, etc.
Familiarity and ability to work with technical equipment.
Flexibility and willingness to learn.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when nec
Physical Requirements
Ability to see, speak, and hear clearly
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to walk, bend, sit, and stand for prolonged periods as necessary
Able to assist moving equipment
