Citigroup SVP / NAM Syndicate Operations Head in New York, New York

Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets and Investment Banking businesses and have significant impact across the lifecycle of a trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders including Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Banking Deal teams, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with our external client base, playing a key role in the overall client experience. We have a client relationship group, dedicated to overseeing the Organizational service performance and strategic partnership for our top tier client base, where we play a key role in supporting our global clients to ensure they have a first-class experience when doing business with Citi.

Our Business Execution and Transformations groups works alongside our Operations teams delivering automation solutions to solve for operational challenges. We partner with Citi’s innovation labs to drive optimization, and overall play a pivotal role in enabling us to transform to achieve our target operating model.

Our Technology partners develop and implement a wide range of applications that support the Operations, Change, Design, and Implementation groups in providing innovative products and solutions. We have re-imagined how to provide technology and service in our domain through the alignment of our team vision, culture, and aggressive retirement plan for legacy applications and adoption of a micro-based containerized cloud environment. Job Purpose

The Nam Syndicate Operations Head will report to the Global Syndicate Operations Head, leading the Syndicate Operations staff supporting the Debt (DCM) and Equity (ECM) Investment Banking business and as the Markets Primary issuance businesses including the Special Equity Transaction Group.

Primary face off to Investment Banking and Markets Primary Issuance groups and working closely with each of the broader operational components that support both businesses front to back to ensure a seamless front to back process and service offering.

Our Syndicate Operations groups are responsible for coordinating logistics surrounding deal pipeline spanning deal & account setup, Trade Management to ensure timely settlement.

This is a Series 99 Supervisory role overseeing covered functions spanning Deal & Trade Management, Revenue recognition & Deal Final Settlement; Front to Back Controls and Deal related Regulatory Filings and exception management.

Organizational Oversight:

This remit spans both Syndicate Middle Office and Settlements staff, responsible for the leadership and management of a diverse group of 18 people across our Manhattan and Buffalo sites.

Both ECM and DCM businesses going are investing in a multi-year Tech Transformation, the Nam Syndicate Operations Head will be tasked executing the inflight strategic the end-to-end agenda as well as assessing and then evolving the Control Environment.

The Candidate's primary objectives will be to:

  • Deliver an effective control framework that fully meets Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requirements.

  • Accountable for integrity of operational process, overseeing and leading daily core operations championing a proactive culture and environment where processes, risks and controls are continually monitored, and potential risks escalated on a timely basis as well as acting as a senior point of escalation.

  • Leads by example in support of organizational initiatives by exhibiting in-depth knowledge of products and issues and proactively seeks opportunities to work across silos.

  • Leading a series of control and Automation initiatives for the Nam region executing on Target Operating Model reducing Operational Touchpoints and reducing processing and payment risk.

  • Identify / Develops innovative solutions and cost savings opportunities; builds effective relationships with clients; facilitates, influences, and enables change.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Acting as key point of contact to the business, representing broader ECM/DCM Operations groups across internal and external stakeholders

  • Continued engagement and face off with a range of senior Business, Technology and Operations partners.

  • Engaging in client discussions & relationship management activities as required to support the Business.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Finra Series 99 registered preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in Tier 1 global financial institutions with strong experience in either Equity and / Debt Markets Middle Office or Operations.

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who can positively and productively add product impact to both strategic and tactical technology.

  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented with strong awareness and a strong risk management and control mindset.
