The CUMC HLA Lab is seeking a qualified technologist to join our team. The Staff Associate must be able to perform molecular HLA typing using SSP and/or rSSO Luminxed-based method; and be able to analyze the results of the clinical specimen; and assign HLA class I and class II antigens and/or alleles.
Staff Associate must be able to perform serum screening of anti-HLA antibodies by CDC and Luminex-based SPA.
Must be able to perform cross-matching by both CDC and FCXM.
Staff Associate is required to serve on-call coverage for deceased donor cross-matching and capable to make independent judgment with minimal supervision.
Maintains equipment and records; performs quality control and quality assurance activities; performs miscellaneous functions required to maintain smooth operation of the department such as clerical duties, reagent preparation and inventory control activities.
Minimum Degree Required
Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences (Chemistry or Biology preferred) plus 4 years specialized experience in high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting. Prior experience in Histocompatibility testing is a must.
- Experience in immunology and tissue culture is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and outside personnel.
- A good degree of computer literacy (Word processing, Excel spreadsheets).
- Managerial ability and experience
- NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT).
