Summary Description

Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology seeks to hire successful candidate for the position of Staff Associate.

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology, in the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University Medical Center, is distinguished by its emphasis on research that bridges the study of infectious microbes and the response of hosts to such pathogens. Our objective is to understand the molecular basis of infectious disease, and our research is focused on immunology, model systems, and pathogenesis.

Candidates should have strong, relevant scientific experience. Responsibilities will include carrying out experiments and investigatory work in a vibrant research program, and active participation in the Institute’s programs and activities. The Staff Associate will implement laboratory processes/protocols and may be responsible for managing an operational or administrative component of a laboratory or program.

Minimum Degree Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications

4 years of experience required

Excellent organization skills in laboratory management and excellent references.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word is preferred.

Additional Information

The applicant should be self-motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. S/he should also have outstanding organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and be able to work independently as well as within a team.
