The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Medical Center is searching for a highly motivated Staff Associate/ Senior Staff Associate depending on level of experience) with experience in mouse models and knowledge of immunology concepts and assays. With guidance from the PI, individual duties will be conducting experiments to elucidate how the immune system responds to red blood cell antigens (both in the context of autoantigens and alloantigens). Experimental assays/techniques include but may not be limited to ELISAs, ELISPOTS, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, tissue collection, cell culture, confocal microscopy, RNAseq and appropriate data analysis, qPCR, in vitro and in vivo proliferation and cytotoxicity assays, and genotyping and phenotyping of mice. Other duties will include mouse tissue collection and analysis, analysis of leukocytes from human peripheral blood and tissues, preparation of solutions, reagents, and other research materials and general lab duties such as ordering and maintaining lab supplies. The candidate must be able to work independently in a very fast-paced environment, have the capacity to multi-task and be detail oriented. The candidate must be able to generate and analyze data, and troubleshoot assays.
Minimum Degree Required
Requires a bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience for a Staff Associate and eight years of relevant experience for a Senior Staff Associate.

The Staff Associate/ Senior Staff Associate should be able to plan, organize, troubleshoot, and present work independently and work in a collaborative environment that emphasizes team building and team leadership. Excellent communication and collaborative skills, and a track record of publications in the field would be highly competitive. An appropriate level of understanding and ability to interpret applicable regulations and standard of quality assurance is expected. -
